Exciting Beginnings!
Let’s kick things off with some introductions. While I don’t expect many readers at this early stage, I view this blog as a letter to my future self. Today marks the launch of my website, an extension of my Instagram blog spanning 3-4 years.
Instagram served me well, but conveying a comprehensive investment thesis with detailed analyses and financial statements proved challenging. Inspired by investors like Bastian at Picolinie Capital, I’ve decided to migrate my content here.
The reasons behind starting this website are numerous, but why this blog? Aspiring to be a wealth manager, I’ve been drawn to the notion of “passive income” and the character-building aspect of successful investing. Contrary to popular misconceptions, investing isn’t just about numbers; it’s a philosophy, a lifestyle, and a continuous learning process.
Diving into Warren Buffett, Graham, Charlie Munger, Howard Marks, and others during my younger years, I realized that investing is about more than financial statements and calculations. It’s about patience, humility, honesty, and understanding the world, its histories, and its people. The journey to becoming an adept investor is an ongoing exploration of core concepts that shape economies, business ideas, and wealth management.
Value investing, in particular, captivates me. Despite feeling a continuous improvement, my investment results haven’t reflected that progress. I blame Chinese Equities and myself for suboptimal choices, acknowledging my naivety at 18 and likely foreseeing a similar sentiment at 22. Yet, I remind myself that learning takes time—I’m only 22, after all.
The desire to emulate Warren Buffett is universal, yet there’s only one Buffett. This realization encapsulates the difficulty of the investing journey.
As I pause to enjoy dinner, I’m uncertain about the blog’s direction—whether it becomes a lifestyle, mentality, or pure stock research blog. Perhaps, it’ll be a blend of everything. I’ve created this space for personal use, but the idea of someone finding it interesting is intriguing.
That’s it for now.
